On Monday afternoon, the Seattle Mariners, who are in contention for the playoffs, will begin a series against the Oakland Athletics. This marks the first of two series scheduled over the last four weeks of the season.

Seattle Mariners

The Seattle Mariners are 69-68 this season, trailing the Astros by six games in the American League standings. While their Wild Card hopes are slim, they need to catch Houston to secure a playoff spot.

However, the odds aren’t in their favor, as they have had three losses in their last five games. In a recent 3-2 loss to the Angels, Luke Raley hit a solo home run, and Bryce Miller allowed three runs over 4.2 innings.

Logan Gilbert will start the next game with a 6-10 record and a 3.09 ERA.

Despite offensive struggles, with a .216 team batting average and the fifth-fewest runs scored in the league, the Mariners are ranked first defensively, allowing just 3.80 points per game.

Oakland Athletics

The Oakland Athletics are 59-78 this season, sitting fourth in the AL West, 16 games behind the Astros. With no playoff prospects, they are already looking ahead to the offseason for improvements.

In their latest game, the A’s lost 6-4 to the Rangers in 10 innings, a tough outcome for manager Mark Kotsay. With a 5-3 record, Osvaldo Bido will start the next game, coming off successful recent performances.

Despite ranking seventh worst in batting average at .234, the A’s have hit the fifth most home runs but also rank high in strikeouts.

Oakland is ranked 13th in power rankings and 25th in offense, scoring an average of 4.09 runs per game. The Mariners have taken one of the last three matchups against them.

Mariners-A’s Best Bet

Based on the impressive performance of starting pitcher Osvaldo Bido and the Seattle Mariners’ challenges with Logan Gilbert as their starter, I recommend taking Oakland to win in the upcoming game against the Mariners.

Even though the A’s have struggled lately, today feels like a perfect bounce back opportunity for them. I absolutely love the +120 odds I’m seeing for the A’s moneyline as well.

Can the A’s rally back after yesterday’s setback against the Rangers?
