The Milwaukee Brewers dominated the series opener on Friday night, cruising to an 11-3 victory over the Oakland Athletics at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.

The Athletics have now dropped four straight and six of their last ten games. They have struggled throughout the year, ranking at the bottom in many key categories, making them a risky bet in most situations.

However, their pitching staff has shown flashes of strength at times, and they’re currently on a hot streak in August.

The Athletics’ pitchers rank eighth in the league this month with a 3.60 ERA.

Although Joe Boyle has had a tough season, the Athletics could have a chance if he can keep the game close enough to hand it over to their bullpen.

In his last outing, Colin Rea continued his impressive season with a seven-inning gem against the Cleveland Guardians.

The Athletics, who have struggled offensively all season, aren’t likely to pose much of a challenge. They are hitting just .225 in August, ranking 28th in home runs and dead last in runs scored.

The Brewers boast one of the best pitching staffs in baseball. Their ERA is 3.68, trailing only the Seattle Mariners and Atlanta Braves, which is significantly better than the Athletics’ performance.

Although Oakland’s pitching has improved this month, it may not matter if their offense remains ineffective. The Brewers seem to have figured out the Athletics’ pitching, as evidenced by their 11-run outburst on Friday night.

Brewers-A’s Best Bet

Based on statistical analysis and recent performances, the Milwaukee Brewers appear poised for a victory. Their superior overall statistics suggest they are likely to emerge victorious.

For the Athletics to have a chance, Joe Boyle will need to deliver a standout batting performance, supported by contributions from the rest of the team.

Given the uncertainty surrounding Oakland’s ability to establish a rhythm, this matchup seems to favor the Brewers. I’d take the Brewers on the moneyline in this one.
