The Las Vegas Aces face a critical moment as they head to Minnesota on Friday after a disappointing defeat at home.

On Wednesday night, the Lynx in Las Vegas thoroughly outplayed the Aces. This marked the second time Minnesota has beaten them by double digits on their home court this season.

Las Vegas Aces

The Aces, who had expected to bounce back after losing to Minnesota in Vegas in June, fell short again. The Lynx controlled most of the game and secured a 98-87 victory.

This loss follows a 12-point home defeat to the New York Liberty just days earlier, adding to the Aces’ concerns.

If the Aces fail to beat the Lynx in this upcoming rematch, it could solidify the perception among WNBA analysts that Minnesota is a stronger contender for the WNBA Finals than Las Vegas in the Western Conference.

The Aces must win this game to keep their position as the top team in the West, especially with the WNBA playoffs approaching. A loss would likely establish the Lynx as the clear favorites in the Western Conference.

It’s worth noting that the Aces secured a victory in Minnesota earlier this season. Interestingly, the teams have faced off three times this season, with the away team emerging victorious on all three occasions.

Minnesota Lynx

If the Lynx can pull off another victory over the Aces, they would be seen as the clear favorites in the Western Conference.

This would increase their chances of securing the No. 2 seed and positioning themselves as the primary challengers to the New York Liberty, who are the current title favorites with a 25-4 record.

The Lynx have been performing like serious contenders, with the league’s second-best net rating (+8.5) and the best defensive rating (94.1). Their well-rounded lineup was evident in Wednesday’s win, with five players scoring in double digits.

This is the second time this season that Minnesota has had five scorers in double figures against Las Vegas. Las Vegas seems unable to replicate its championship-level defense from previous years.

Aces-Lynx Best Bet

The Aces are listed as the underdog for the first time this season, marking only the third time in the past three regular seasons.

Minnesota has a strong record of 12-2 when listed as the home favorite during the regular season, dating back to last season.

While I would ordinarily jump on the value presented with the Aces as an underdog, something doesn’t seem right with them. Perhaps some of the players are still tired from their Olympic trip to play for Team USA?

I’m not too sure, but I’m taking the Lynx to win this one until I see improvement from the Aces defense. Bet the Lynx on the moneyline.
