The Las Vegas Aces host the Washington Mystics on Thursday, and we share our best Mystics vs. Aces picks based on the top WNBA odds.

The Aces (11-6) have had a tumultuous season, but they’ve found their stride, winning five straight games, showcasing their potential, heading into Thursday’s matchup against the Mystics (5-15).

Las Vegas Aces

The Aces are favored by 16 points against the Mystics, and based on the latest odds, they are currently the favorites to win the WNBA championship.

This confidence stems from the Aces’ back-to-back title runs and recent form, which finally reflects their contender status.

In contrast, Washington is clearly in a rebuilding phase and remains the longest shot at the WNBA title.

The Aces have been unpredictable; after losing four out of five games in mid-June, they’ve now won five consecutive games by double digits, although only one win exceeded the current 16-point spread.

When these teams met on Saturday, the Aces struggled to pull away, with Washington leading late into the third quarter before Las Vegas secured an 88-77 victory.

The Washington Mystics have faced a challenging 2024 season, contending with injuries to key players Shakira Austin and Brittney Sykes, which have limited their potential.

Despite starting the season 0-12, the Mystics have shown signs of improvement, going 5-3 in their last eight games.

However, they remain significant underdogs on the road against the defending champion Las Vegas Aces.

Las Vegas recently welcomed Chelsea Gray back into the lineup and has won five consecutive games.

It has improved to 11-6 and is just one game behind the No. 4 seed in the WNBA.

Can Las Vegas maintain its momentum at home?

In that game, Jackie Young scored 26 points—her third-highest total of the season—to help the Aces secure a hard-fought win.

Young’s performance was not a fluke; the two-time All-Star is averaging 21 points over her last seven starts, exceeding this total in four.

Washington Mystics

That game fell short of the total points line, as have three of the Aces’ last four games and each of the Mystics’ last two contests.

The Aces’ defense, a major concern early in the year, has improved significantly.

They have allowed 83 or fewer points in five straight games and posted the league’s third-best defensive rating (95.3) in that span.

Washington has shown some offensive potential recently, but their trajectory remains uncertain without their best player, Brittney Sykes (foot), and no top-20 scorers in the rotation.

Washington has been playing much better basketball lately, ranking fifth in the league in net rating (just one spot behind the Aces) since securing their first win.

The future for Washington looks bright with rookie Aaliyah Edwards.

The young forward has been stepping in for the injured Shakira Austin, averaging 8.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.

Edwards has come off the bench in the last two games for Washington. While an upset seems unlikely, Washington can cover the spread in this game.

Mystics-Aces Best Bet

The Mystics are now 12-6-1 against the spread after their victory over the Los Angeles Sparks on Tuesday.

I would bet Under 170.5 points in this one.

Will the Aces be on upset alert against Caitlin Clark and the Fever?
