Samsonov joins the Knights after playing the previous two seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs (2022-2024). The Capitals originally selected him in the first round (22nd overall) in the 2015 NHL draft. Samsonov was 23-7 with a 3.13 GAA and a.890 save percentage in 40 games for the Maple Leafs last season. The Golden Knights needed a backup goalie to play behind Adin Hill, and Samsonov’s one-year “prove it” contract provides them with exactly that.
