The Fever will aim for their first consecutive wins when they host the Chicago Sky on Sunday afternoon. Indiana, currently 0-3 following a win, is coming off a 91-84 home victory over Atlanta.
Despite some heavy losses contributing to their league-worst Net Rating of -13.9, the gap between these teams may be narrower than the 12-point margin favoring Chicago suggests.
Both teams have secured four wins, even though Indiana has played two more games.
Chicago Sky
Chicago started the season strong, winning two of its first three games, but has since managed only two victories in its last nine outings.
While the Sky remain one of the league’s better defensive teams, ranking in the top half, their offense is struggling, currently sitting ninth with an Offensive Rating of 96.7 points per 100 possessions.

Their recent two wins were against teams ranked 10th or lower in offensive efficiency.
The Sky’s lack of perimeter shooting is a significant disadvantage. They rank at the bottom of the league in both 3-point attempts (14.6 per game) and 3-point field goals made (4.4 per game).
In today’s basketball, winning without being a threat from beyond the arc is tough.
Chicago must play nearly perfect games to stay competitive by dominating the boards and minimizing turnovers. Given these challenges, their odds of winning are often less than 50%. Therefore, considering a bet against the Sky at reasonable moneyline odds could be worthwhile.
Indiana Fever
The critical distinction between Chicago and Indiana is that the Fever has a more dynamic offense.
While Indiana’s Offensive Rating of 97.2 is only marginally better than Chicago’s, their playing style is more suited to the modern game.
The Fever ranks sixth in both 3-point attempts (25.1 per game) and 3-point field goals made (8.4 per game). Indiana’s 3-point shooting gives them a greater margin for error, as it allows them to come back from deficits more effectively.

With Caitlin Clark emerging as a new star in the WNBA, Indiana has faced a tough schedule to start the season. Eight of their 10 losses were against top teams like Connecticut, New York, and Seattle.
As a result, Indiana’s metrics are somewhat skewed due to the high level of competition they’ve encountered. Despite having the worst Net Rating in the league, the Fever are certainly not the worst team.
Sky-Fever Game Best Bet
This should be a great game and a fantastic matchup between two up-and-coming squads in the WNBA. I’m leaning toward Under 167.5 points because the total feels a tad high. I would also wager on the Fever to win this one. I think they take care of the Sky at home.
