Following the Las Vegas Aces win against the Los Angeles Sparks, the mood drastically shifted. Instead of them being ecstatic about their new sponsorship, they now have to undergo investigation by the WNBA. Many players quickly respond on social media.
A very cool story out the WNBA
Each player on the Las Vegas Aces will receive a $100,000 sponsorship this year from the city's tourism authority
That $100,000 is more than the salaries of six players
Here's how the team found out:pic.twitter.com/NQXnmlaYE3

What is the most concerning about this sponsorship is that because it is distributed among all of the players, there is a concern that the Aces conducted the contracts. In the video you can hear head of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
“One more thing, I just want to let you guys know I have talked to every one of your agents,” head of the company said.
The loudest on social media on the subject is guard, Sydney Colson. She has connected her X posts to the statement, “another word for investigate.”
Players Respond to Sponsorship
Another word for investigate is explore. My dad drove a reddish colored Ford Explorer when I was in middle school and there’s no way that 12yo me would’ve thought we’d be investigated over this.

Another word for investigate is study. We have studs on our team so I think WE should actually open up an investigation bc this is some sort of dyke witch hunt at this point

Can we investigate Cathy in her decisions on who is allowed to charter and who isn’t?
— Alysha Clark (@Alysha_Clark) May 19, 2024
Point guard, Chelsea Gray who is one of the leaders of the Aces shows her confusion for an investigation as well. Forward, Alysha Clark sends a subliminal to the WNBA being that the Indiana Fever were seen on a charter flight.
finding out ya team is under investigation right after a game is OD ???? like huhhhhhh ???????? what happened to growing the game ?¿?¿

Two-time WNBA MVP, A’Ja Wilson responds on the fact that the main goal is to grow the WNBA as a whole. With this sponsorship, six of the players on the Aces now make more from the sponsorship than their base salary.
