On Tuesday, the reigning champion Las Vegas Aces will face off against the Phoenix Mercury on opening night. This will be a home game for the Aces at Michelob Ultra Arena.
Las Vegas is coming from a dominant exhibition against the Puerto Rico national team with a 50 point differential. However, Phoenix subsequently lost an exhibition against the Los Angeles Sparks on May 10.

Disney Plus will be a streaming platform used by the WNBA this season where this game can be watched. It will be especially prominent during opening night.
Stars on Opening Night
A’Ja Wilson is easily one of the best players in the WNBA being a multi-time winner of the MVP award. She was the leading scorer in their preseason game with 27 points.
Along her side is former number one overall pick, Kelsey Plum who was the leader in minutes played during their preseason matchup. Plum has been named an All Star twice and was even the All Star Game MVP.
On the opposing side is another number one overall pick with the Mercury center, Brittney Griner. Griner scored 21 points in their loss to the Sparks and could pose some problems for A’Ja Wilson with her length.
Phoenix has one of the most decorated WNBA superstars in Diana Taurasi who is the WNBA all-time leading scorer. She struggled in their last game, but her experience can always have an affect on the matchup.
Last season for the Mercury and Aces were night and day as Phoenix did not even eclipse double digit wins. It will be interesting to see if they have improved.
