A’s call up Gage Jump, No. 3 prospect, for MLB debut

Gage Jump MLB debut is next as the Athletics promote their No. 3 prospect after nine starts with Triple-A Las Vegas. Jump brings swing-and-miss stuff, and the move comes as Oakland manages rotation health while Aviators OF Cade Marlowe earns PCL Player of the Week.

The Athletics are promoting left-hander Gage Jump, the organization’s No. 3 prospect, to make his Major League debut.

Jump, 23, has spent the 2026 season with Triple-A Las Vegas after splitting time between two levels in 2025. He has emerged as one of the system’s top strikeout arms and is currently ranked as the Athletics’ third-best prospect.

Jump’s 2026 Season

In nine starts for the Aviators this season, Jump went 0-2 with a 4.50 ERA across 38.0 innings. He struck out 56 batters while issuing 20 walks. Opponents are hitting .254 against him at the Triple-A level.

Strong Minor League Resume

Across his Minor League career, Jump owns a 3.58 ERA in 35 appearances, including 33 starts. In 150.2 innings, he has recorded 187 strikeouts with a 1.19 WHIP while limiting opponents to a .224 batting average.

Between two levels in 2025, Jump posted a 3.28 ERA over 112.2 innings with 131 strikeouts and allowed just seven home runs.

His fastball has reached 97 mph, and he was recently named Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week following a dominant seven-inning outing that included nine strikeouts. The promotion gives the Athletics another power arm as the club manages rotation injuries.

Marlowe Earns PCL Player of the Week Honors

While Jump heads to the big leagues, Aviators outfielder Cade Marlowe continues to power Las Vegas’ lineup.

Marlowe was named Pacific Coast League Player of the Week for May 18-24 after a dominant six-game series against Albuquerque at Las Vegas Ballpark.

He batted .538 (14-for-26) with five doubles, one triple, two home runs, 13 RBIs and nine runs scored. He recorded five multi-hit games during the series, including a 4-for-4 performance with a double, triple, walk, stolen base, two RBIs and three runs scored in Sunday’s walk-off win.

Season at a Glance

Through 41 games, Marlowe is batting .325 (51-for-157) with 16 doubles, tied for first in the PCL, and six triples, which lead the league. He has added four home runs, 30 RBIs and 12 stolen bases while leading the Aviators with 26 extra-base hits.

Marlowe is the second Aviators player to earn PCL Player of the Week honors in 2026, joining Henry Bolte, who received the award for May 4-10.

The Aviators (26-23) open a six-game road series Tuesday in Tacoma.
