LAS VEGAS — The Vegas Golden Knights let an opportunity slip on home ice Tuesday night. Falling 3-2 to the Utah Mammoth at T-Mobile Arena, Vegas now heads on the road with its first-round series tied 1-1.

The Golden Knights struck first late in the opening period. Captain Mark Stone created the opportunity on the power play, sending a centering pass that deflected off a Utah defender and into the net with 8:18 remaining, giving Vegas a 1-0 lead.

But Utah responded before intermission, as MacKenzie Weegar found the back of the net with just over three minutes left to even things at 1-1.

Back-and-Forth Battle

The Mammoth grabbed momentum in the second period. Dylan Guenther blasted a slapshot from the blue line with 5:04 remaining to give Utah its first lead of the night.

Vegas answered quickly. Just over a minute later, Ivan Barbashev finished a streaking play with a slick backhand goal, tying the game at 2-2 heading into the third period.

In the final frame, it was Logan Cooley who made the difference. With six minutes left, Cooley capitalized on a rebound in front of the net, slipping the puck past the Vegas defense for the go-ahead goal one that ultimately stood as the game-winner.

With the series now even, the pressure shifts. Game 3 will take place Friday at the Delta Center, where Utah will look to build on its momentum and Vegas aims to regain control.

Game 3 Details:

  • Time: 6:30 p.m. PT
  • TV: TBS / HBO Max
  • Radio: FOX Sports Las Vegas 94.7/1340, Deportes Vegas 1460

Vegas showed flashes special teams execution, quick responses but ultimately couldn’t close out a tight game at home. Now, with the series tied and the setting shifting. Game 3 becomes a pivotal early test in what’s shaping up to be a competitive first-round battle.
