The American Hockey League named Henderson Silver Knights forward Ben Hemmerling the Upper Deck AHL Rookie of the Month for February.
Hemmerling piled up 10 points in nine games, scoring six goals and adding four assists. He also posted a plus-6 rating during the month.
Big moments, big swings
The 21-year-old opened his run with goals in back-to-back games against Coachella Valley on Feb. 6-7. Then, he delivered his first career two-goal game at San Jose on Feb. 15.
Hemmerling kept stacking impact plays down the stretch. He assisted on the tiebreaking goal in a 6-3 win over Abbotsford on Feb. 20, and his first three-point game (two goals, one assist) helped lift Henderson past Colorado, 4-2, on Feb. 28.
Production behind the award
Hemmerling, a right-shot forward from Sherwood Park, Alberta, has produced all season for Henderson. Through 47 games in 2025-26, he has 31 points (16 goals, 15 assists) with 14 penalty minutes.
From injury setback to rookie lift
Hemmerling is in his first full pro season after injury limited him for most of 2024-25. He made his pro debut with Henderson on March 8, 2025, and recorded one goal and one assist in 17 appearances.
Vegas selected Hemmerling in the sixth round (177th overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft. Before turning pro, he spent four seasons with Everett in the WHL, where he led the club in scoring and served as captain in 2023-24.
