Sixty-four days remain until the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh, Pa., April 23-25, 2026. After a 3-14 season in 2025, the Las Vegas Raiders hold the No. 1 overall pick as this daily countdown continues through the franchise’s best players by jersey number.

Today, Feb. 18, the number is 64.

George Buehler, No. 64

George Buehler is the pick for No. 64 because he gave the Raiders a decade of stability on the offensive line. From 1969-1978, he was a regular starter and a trusted piece of winning teams.

Buehler played 115 games for the Raiders and started 98. That longevity and workload is the separator for this number.

Why Buehler gets No. 64

No. 64 has a handful of notable names, but Buehler has the longest Raiders run of the group. He also spent most of that time in the lineup.

He also has championship value. Buehler was part of a Super Bowl title team, which helps close the case.

Draft and background

Buehler was born Aug. 10, 1947, in Whittier, Calif. He played at Whittier High School in California before starring at Stanford.

Then the Oakland Raiders drafted him in the second round, 50th overall, in 1969. He went on to spend 10 seasons in Silver and Black.

Other notable No. 64s

  • Samson Satele, 2009-2011
  • Jake Grove, 2004-2008
  • Ron Sabal, 1960-1961
  • Robert Jenkins, 1994-1996

Career check

Buehler built a long NFL career, but his Raiders decade is what sets him apart at No. 64. With 98 starts over 10 seasons, the number belongs to him.

Next up tomorrow: No. 63.
