The Maxx Crosby situation in Las Vegas is no longer a whisper it’s a warning siren. Last week, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports strongly suggested that Maxx Crosby is finished with the Las Vegas Raiders.
When Glazer’s report was run past someone familiar with Crosby’s mindset, the response was blunt but telling: “Draw your own conclusions.” Crosby himself declined to add fuel to the speculation. Now, another respected league insider has added a dramatic wrinkle one that pushes this saga firmly into offseason-defining territory.
According to Jason LaCanfora of SportsBoom.com, Crosby has already delivered his message directly to a high-profile figure inside the Raiders’ ownership group. Quoting an unnamed NFL general manager, LaCanfora reports that Crosby has told Tom Brady, a minority owner of the Raiders, that he is done with the franchise.
The Myles Garrett Factor
“He told Tom Brady he will never play for the Raiders again,” the GM said. “That’s a fact. He told them he’ll retire before he ever plays for them again. But I’m not sure they’re actually going to trade him. Myles Garrett said the same thing last year, and we know how that ended up.”
The reference to Myles Garrett is notable. Garrett publicly demanded a trade from Cleveland during Super Bowl week last year, only for the Browns to respond in familiar fashion by throwing a massive contract extension at the problem. That solution may not apply here.
Winning Cures All
For Crosby, sources indicate the breaking point wasn’t merely another losing season. Instead, it was the Raiders’ decision to place him on injured reserve for the final two games of the regular season effectively shutting him down despite his desire to keep playing.
Crosby’s identity has long been tied to toughness, availability, and playing through pain. Being told he could not finish the season struck at the core of who he is as a player. The move also coincided with Las Vegas placing tight end Brock Bowers on the shelf for the final two games a decision widely viewed around the league as part of a broader strategy to secure the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
The Raiders accomplished that goal. The lingering question is whether the cost will ultimately include the loss of the franchise’s emotional and competitive centerpiece a cornerstone defender who may have already made up his mind.
If Crosby’s stance holds, this isn’t just another trade rumor. It’s the opening chapter of what could become the most consequential Raiders storyline of the entire offseason.
