The disappointing season for the Las Vegas Raiders has resulted in a scene that is all too familiar for the Silver and Black.

On Monday, the Raiders made the decision to fire head coach Pete Carroll after only one season with the team.

Carroll will finish his tenure with the Raiders going 3-14 all-time at the helm.

When Carroll was hired last January to replace Antonio Pierce, the Raiders believed they were getting a winner. Carroll had built cultures of success at both the University of Southern California and the Seattle Seahawks, winning championships and establish a competitive spirit. Expectations were high that Carroll would be the one to break the cycle of futility that the Raiders had been caught in over the past few seasons.

Now, 12 months later, Carroll becomes the latest to walk through the revolving door.

When the Raiders make their next coaching hire, it will be for the sixth head coach since 2021 when Jon Gruden resigned due to his email scandal. Given the struggles of the team and the lack of patience shown to coaches in recent years, it will prove difficult to land a top candidate.

However, the Raiders are armed with the first overall pick and plenty of cap space to solve roster problems, so that will prove useful in coaxing potential candidates to consider the job.

Whether it is John Spytek, Tom Brady, Mark Davis or any combination of the three calling the shots in the next coaching search, fans will be clamoring that the next hire is finally the one that sticks.
