LeBron James is renowned as one of, if not the greatest, basketball players of all time. With his impressive list of accolades, including four championships, four-time Most Valuable Player awards and four-time Finals MVP awards.

Many fans of James weren’t even born before he started his NBA career on October 29, 2003. James is currently in his 23rd season, which is the longest career in NBA history, and he continues to dominate, averaging 20.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 6.7 assists on 50.7 percent shooting from the field. This longevity of greatness has never been matched, with many fans saying it will never happen again.

Out-standing Accolades

He has a near-endless list of accolades, but here are his most impressive achievements:

  • 13-time All-NBA First Team selection

  • 4-time MVP

  • 23-plus seasons

  • 42,471 career points

  • Fourth all-time in assists with 11,678

These accolades alone validate a Hall of Fame career, but they are just the icing on the cake for James. He and Chris Paul are the only players to be inducted into the Hall of Fame while still active in the league. This induction came from their participation in the 2008 Olympics. They were known as the “Redeem Team,” a nickname given to them as they aimed to restore American basketball dominance following a disappointing bronze medal in 2004.

Looking To Own in Vegas

Even after retirement, LeBron still wants to be a part of the NBA, showing interest in owning a team in a potential Las Vegas expansion. He remarked that Las Vegas has “the best fan base in the world, and I would love to bring a team here at some point.” With his billionaire status and the likelihood of different brands and retired players ready to join him, it may only be a matter of time before an expansion becomes official.

Commissioner Adam Silver has strategically tested the waters in Las Vegas through the NBA Summer League and the NBA Emirates Cup, where fans and celebrities always show up and show out. With strong attendance year after year, Silver’s decision to expand appears closer to becoming reality.
