Nike has always been known for celebrating a champion after the final horn blares through the stadium but this time, did they spoil the Aces happy ending?
Hundreds, maybe millions of viewers were tuned in as the Las Vegas Aces were on their way to a sweep to earn their third championship in four years against the Phoenix Mercury.
The Mercury were in the middle of a bit of slight comeback in the third quarter. As the game took a tv timeout, Nike aired it’s iconic championship commercial, complete with a view of the Las Vegas Skyline on the WNBA trophy on a plane flying back to Vegas with the theme song from the 70’s tv show “Welcome Back Kotter”.
Did Nike give away the ending too soon? Check out the commercial below:

Whether or not Nike intended to drop the commercial prematurely or not, lots of eyes were on their slip up in celebrating the Aces third championship.
Needless to say, it’s taps into the nostalgia a bit and the fun of this Las Vegas Aces team.
