Raiders social media post elicits response from UNLV rival

In front of excited Las Vegas Raiders fans at Allegiant Stadium, Ashton Jeanty had the breakout performance they had waited a long time to see.

Against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Jeanty scored a trio of touchdowns, as well as 155 yards from scrimmage. After a few tough weeks to begin his professional career, Jeanty proved why he was deserving of the sixth overall pick back in April.

However, the Raiders posting about the feat left themselves wide open for a response from Jeanty’s alma mater in Boise State.

The Raiders inadvertently reignited a college football rivalry on social media.

During the first of Jeanty’s three touchdowns of the day, the Raiders made an innocuous enough post on their X page saying that it was his first touchdown at Allegiant Stadium.

The post quickly got a reaction from Boise State’s football program, emphasizing that it was his first time scoring in the stadium as a NFL player.

There was once a time when Jeanty struck fear in the hearts of Las Vegas football fans, and he proved it in a matchup between the Boise State Broncos and UNLV Rebels last season.

In Allegiant Stadium, Jeanty continued what was a near-historic season, rushing for 128 yards and a touchdown in a 29-24 victory for the Broncos. It was part of the reason why Jeanty was so well-regarded heading into the draft, and a strong showing in their own backyard certainly caught the attention of the Raiders. While it took Jeanty some time to recapture his elite form, he appears to have figured it out at the NFL level now.

If the momentum continues and Jeanty enjoys a stellar remainder of the season, that will give the Raiders another young offensive weapon for opposing teams to worry about.
