The highly anticipated clash between Raul Rosas Jr. and veteran bantamweight contender Rob Font at Noche UFC 3 is officially off. Sources confirmed to MMA Fighting that Rosas was forced out of the Sept. 13 card in San Antonio, with the UFC now searching for a replacement to keep Font on the event. The news was first reported by Wristlock MMA.
Rosas’ Setback
The 19-year-old Rosas (5–1 UFC) had been campaigning for a ranked opponent, eager to prove himself among the division’s elite. He entered the matchup riding a four-fight win streak after rebounding from the lone loss of his UFC career. This setback delays his chance to make a statement against Font, who is ranked and brings years of experience against the top of the division.
Font’s Situation
For Font (21–7 MMA), the cancellation means uncertainty just as he was building momentum. He’s currently on a two-fight win streak, picking up decisions over Jean Matsumoto and Kyler Phillips. Now he must wait for the UFC to either find him a new opponent or reschedule him for a later card.
Replacement Bout Added
In response to the shake-up, the UFC booked a new lightweight matchup: Alexander Hernandez (coming off a win over Chase Hooper) will make a quick turnaround to face Diego Ferreira.
Event Outlook
Noche UFC 3 remains set for Sept. 13 in San Antonio, headlined by an exciting featherweight showdown between Diego Lopes and Jean Silva. The full card order has yet to be finalized. Stay tuned for more updates from from UFC 3 very soon.
