Sebastian Fundora wanted to put all doubt away from his previous fight against Tim Tszyu. To his credit, he did exactly that tonight. He asserted his reach and maintained his volume to the point where the former champion refused to come off his stool to start that eighth round. The “Towering Inferno” made Tim Tszyu quit and retain his WBC junior middleweight championship Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
There was no controversy this time. Sebastian Fundora came into the rematch with a statement to make and he delivered it emphatically. Using his freakish reach, volume punching, and renewed confidence, Fundora made easy work of Tim Tszyu. Knocking him down in the first round, you knew that it was going to be a long night for the Australian. What many expected to be another close, tactical battle quickly turned into a one sided masterclass.
Added confidence
You can clearly see that Fundora was way more confident in this fight compared to his previous fight with Tszyu. Seeing how he was able to utilize his jab and continue his endless amount of volume, you can see that he is evolving into a much more confident fighter. Which could propel him to new heights with continued growth. It’s a huge possibility that boxing fans still have not seen the best of the towering Inferno, which is very encouraging. Who’s next for Fundora? Time will tell as all junior middleweights have been put on notice. Great performance tonight by one of boxing’s young stars.
