The Los Angeles Dodgers (50-31) will face the Colorado Rockies (18-62) on Thursday in the final game of their three-game series, starting at 12:10 p.m. PST at Coors Field.
The Dodgers are looking for a sweep after winning the first two games, making it three consecutive victories and nine out of their last eleven.
They won 9-7 on Tuesday and 8-1 on Wednesday, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitching five shutout innings and Max Muncy hitting a grand slam.
On the other hand, the Rockies have lost five of their last six games after a brief four-game winning streak.
Chase Hollander suffered his eighth loss, allowing three runs, while the offense managed only five hits, including two from Tyler Freeman.
Pitching Matchup
The projected starters in the upcoming game between the Dodgers and Rockies are Clayton Kershaw and Austin Gomber.
With a 3-0 record and 3.31 ERA, Kershaw will make his eighth start of the season, having recorded 1.32 WHIP and 6.6 strikeouts per nine innings.
He is eight strikeouts away from 3,000 for his career and recently won against the Nationals, allowing two earned runs in 5 innings. In contrast, Gomber is 0-1 with an 8.38 ERA, allowing 14 hits and two walks over 9 2/3 innings.
His last outing ended in a loss, as he surrendered nine earned runs. Gomber has struggled against the Dodgers, holding an 0-4 record with a 5.89 ERA in his career.
The Dodgers have claimed victory in their last nine encounters with the Rockies. They boast a record of 24-8 against teams with sub-.500 records, while the Rockies struggle with a dismal 8-31 mark at Coors Field this season.
On a positive note, Colorado has avoided being swept in its last four series, while Los Angeles has not completed a sweep since winning all three games against the Miami Marlins from April 28-30.
Clayton Kershaw has only pitched over five innings once this season, and the Dodgers’ bullpen currently ranks 21st in ERA with a 4.27.
Take the Rockies to upset the Dodgers and end their losing streak.
