Has there been a groundbreaking ceremony for the Las Vegas A’s new baseball stadium and no one knew about it?
It is being reported by Sports Illustrated that on Tuesday, president and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority Steve Hill made a bold announcement that the A’s new ballpark in Las Vegas has already broken ground, based on the fact that there are caisson drills on the site where the project is set to take place.
Mr. Hill told the Las Vegas Review-Journal, “We have said for over a year, maybe two, that construction would start in April of 2025 — and thanks to the county’s work and all of your (LVCVA) staff, that construction started in April of ’25.”
The A’s ballpark project is completely on time.
Here’s the catch, the timeframe to begin construction was changed from April to June recently. For no apparent reason, they changed the timeframe months ago. Strange scenario, right?
There wasn’t or hasn’t been a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate this momentous occasion.
The Las Vegas-Review-Journal also reported that the A’s are “still planning on hosting a groundbreaking ceremony” in June.
Whether the stadium will be ready on time for the slated for a 2028 opening will be fascinating to see.
