The Dallas Mavericks, currently in 10th place with a record of 39-43, are set to take on the ninth-place Sacramento Kings (40-42) in the Play-In Tournament on Wednesday. The game begins at 7 p.m. PST at the Golden 1 Center.
The victor will move on to a single-elimination game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday, while the losing team will see their season end. In the regular season matchup, Sacramento swept Dallas, winning all three games.
The Mavericks have struggled lately, losing four of their last five games, including a tough 132-97 defeat to the Grizzlies on Sunday. They failed to cover as a 1.5-point favorite.
In that game, center Daniel Gafford led the team with 20 points despite several key starters resting for the playoff implications.

The Mavericks have fallen short in five of their last seven games and have covered the spread only once in their previous seven outings. Their record against the spread over the last ten games stands at 3-7, revealing their difficulties on the road this season.
Conversely, the Kings have fared better lately, covering the spread in four of their last six games overall and two of their last three as home favorites.
With the Mavericks dealing with injuries throughout the season, backing the Kings is the right move.
