In a crucial Western Conference matchup, the Suns will welcome the Kings to town, with both teams eager for a much-needed victory. This matchup promises an interesting preview of the Sacramento Kings taking on the Phoenix Suns.

The Suns are currently on a two-game losing streak, having lost three of their last four, while the Kings are looking to break out of their own three-game slump. The game will start at 10 PM EST.

Sacramento

After a tough overtime loss, the Kings have struggled defensively, dropping their last two games while allowing at least 130 points each time.

In their latest loss to the Golden State Warriors, they fell 130-104, shooting 46.8% from the field and 37.8% from three but allowing the Warriors to shoot an impressive 57.7% overall.

DeMar DeRozan led with 23 points, and Keon Ellis added 18 from the bench. The Kings failed to cover the spread as 7.5-point underdogs and have not covered in their last two games after a streak of seven covers.

This season, the Kings rank ninth in points per game and 20th in points allowed. They are ninth in the Western Conference with a 5-5 record in their last 10 games. Zach LaVine is averaging 23.7 points per game but has scored only 31 points in his last two games.

DeRozan has scored at least 20 points in six of his last seven games, while Domantas Sabonis, who leads the league in rebounding, is day-to-day after missing several games. The Kings are 17-17 at home this season.

Phoenix

The Suns are having a challenging season and, if it ended today, would miss the playoffs despite the highest payroll in the league.

They lost their latest game 111-104 to the Houston Rockets, shooting better overall (53.4% to 45.5%) and from three (35.7% to 31.6%), but struggled with 11 offensive rebounds allowed and 17 turnovers.

Bradley Beal led with 25 points, while Kevin Durant and Devin Booker each added 19. The Suns failed to cover the spread as 4.5-point underdogs, ending a streak of four covers.

Phoenix ranks 14th in points per game and 23rd in points allowed, posting a 3-7 record over their last 10 games. They are 2.5 games behind the last play-in spot in the West with 16 games left. Durant has been consistent but has 14 turnovers in the last three games.

Booker scored 50 points over two games before dropping to 19 in the last, while Beal has propelled himself with 44 points in the last two after a quiet stretch. The Suns are 11 games under .500 on the road but five games over at home.

Kings-Suns Best Bet

I’m planning to back the Kings on Friday night despite it being the second half of a back-to-back.

There’s a possibility that Sabonis, who was initially questionable and ruled out on Thursday, may return for the Kings, who are currently ranked 12th in the NBA for net rating over their last 10 games. In contrast, the Suns are in 21st place during that same period.

I have doubts about trusting Phoenix as a favorite, considering they have a poor record of 6-15-1 against the spread when favored at home, making them the second-worst team in the league.

On the other hand, the Kings have performed well as road underdogs, boasting a 9-7 record against the spread.

Sacramento has achieved two victories by nine points or more against this Suns squad (including one in overtime), and Phoenix’s defense, ranked 27th, consistently allows teams to stay competitive.

I’ll take the points in this matchup between Western Conference rivals.
