With the official start of the league year less than 24 hours away, the Las Vegas Raiders have continued to build their defense up.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Raider have signed former Green Bay Packers cornerback Eric Stokes to a one-year, $4 million deal.

This completes an unofficial cornerback swap between the Raiders and Packers, as Nate Hobbs signed a four-year, $48 million deal with Green Bay on Monday when the legal tampering period started.
Selected 29th overall by the Packers in 2021, Stokes has seen his career affected by injuries that forced him to miss significant time in 2022 and 2023. However, he brings starting experience with 30 starts over four seasons in Green Bay. He is expected to compete for a role in the secondary with Jakorian Bennett and Decamerion Richardson.
With Stokes on the roster, the Raiders are taking a flier in the hopes of finding a worthwhile reclamation project.
Stokes’s calling card coming into the NFL was his speed, which the Raiders have traditionally coveted. While Lisfranc injuries such as the one Stokes suffered in 2022 are difficult to come back from, the Raiders believe that he provides some much-needed depth to their cornerback room. With the secondary wrecked by injuries last season, taking a low-risk gamble on Stokes is far from a bad idea.
Stokes is another option the Raiders have at their disposal.
