Raiders have options to bring in former Pete Carroll wide receivers

Just a week before the new league year begins, the Las Vegas Raiders now have new possibilities open to them.

With new head coach Pete Carroll at the helm, the Raiders are expected to make a push back to relevance. The path will be difficult, due to the sheer abundance of talent in the AFC West, but the team is confident that they have the resources to make it happen. In order to do so, general manager John Spytek will have to not only find a quarterback, but build the infrastructure needed to help them succeed.

As it turns out, Carroll’s old team has just offered Spytek and the Raiders a couple of lifelines.

Would the Raiders have interest in either of two receivers from the Seattle Seahawks?

Starting off with the least surprising of the duo now available, ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed that the Seahawks are releasing wide receiver Tyler Lockett after 10 seasons in Seattle.

Lockett joins the list of roster cuts the Seahawks have made due to the team being above the salary cap before the new league year starts on March 12.

For the Raiders, Lockett represents a solid, albeit unspectacular, veteran addition to their receiving corps. While tight end Brock Bowers remains the focus of the passing attack, Lockett could team up with receivers Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker as the Raiders’ new slot receiver. Carroll has seen Lockett perform at a high level, so he knows better than anyone where to place the veteran in order to maximize his strengths.

The availability of Lockett was immediately covered up, however, as NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport dropped the bombshell that D.K. Metcalf requested a trade from Seattle.

With Metcalf having no guaranteed money left on his current deal, teams such as the Raiders can now trade for the star receiver. The decision comes off the heels of the San Francisco 49ers trading wide receiver Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders in exchange for a fifth-round pick on Monday. While Metcalf is expected to require a more significant package to acquire from Seattle, he instantly becomes the best receiver available on the market right now.

The Raiders now have two more options to upgrade their receiving room with.
