The Winnipeg Jets will face off against the Philadelphia Flyers in an inter-conference matchup on Thursday evening.

Philadelphia currently ranks as the third-worst team in the Eastern Conference, having accumulated 62 points in 62 games. As they approach this matchup, their recent performance is 4-4-2 over the last ten games.

Despite their struggles, the team remains just five points away from a playoff spot, although it will need to surpass six teams to make it.

On the other hand, Winnipeg has secured 88 points in 62 games and sits eight points ahead of the #2 seed, the Vegas Golden Knights, though they’ve played one additional game.

The Jets’ record is 7-2-1 in their last ten outings, and they are favored with a money line at a price of -150. The total for the game is set at 5.5 goals.

Winnipeg

Winnipeg faced an unexpected defeat against the New York Islanders, losing 3-2 in their latest game. Kyle Connor had two assists, Josh Morrissey contributed a goal and an assist, and Nikolaj Ehlers also scored. Connor Hellebuyck made 26 saves out of 29 shots.

Kyle Connor leads the team with 19 goals and 40 points, along with 21 assists. Adam Lowry holds a team-high +15 rating, while Mark Scheifele has the most penalty minutes (23) and average ice time (20:33).

Connor has the highest power-play goals with eight, and Scheifele leads in power-play assists with 13. The team boasts a strong power play percentage of 31.7%, ranking first overall.

Defensively, Winnipeg allows 29.5 shots against per game and sits 20th in penalty killing at 78.2%, giving up an average of 2.55 goals per game (4th in the NHL). Hellebuyck has a solid 2.15 GAA and a 92.6% save percentage.

Morrissey leads defenders with 30 points, while Neal Pionk has four goals. Dylan Samberg has a +12 rating, and Logan Stanley leads with 51 penalty minutes.

Morrissey logs 24:35 in average ice time. Rasmus Kupari and Dylan Samberg are day-to-day for the next match.

Philadelphia

The Philadelphia Flyers recently lost to the Calgary Flames, 6-3. Andrei Kuzmenko contributed with a goal and an assist, while Matvei Michkov led the team with six shots on goal. Ivan Fedetov made 25 saves, but Samuel Ersson struggled, stopping just two of five.

Travis Konecny is Philadelphia’s top scorer, with 21 goals and 33 assists (54 points), significantly surpassing the second-leading scorer with 34 points. Noah Cates has a +8 rating, and Garnet Hathaway has the second-most penalty minutes at 42.

Konecny also leads in power-play goals with eight and averages over 20 minutes per game. The Flyers rank 14th in faceoff win percentage (50.9%) but struggle on the power play (28th, 16.4% success) and in shots per game (22nd, 27.3).

Defensively, the Flyers are 19th on the penalty kill (77.9%) and 5th in shots against (26.4 per game) but 28th in goals against (3.31 average). Ersson has the best save percentage at 89.2%, with a GAA of 2.70.

Travis Sanheim leads the defensemen with 24 points and has the highest average ice time at 24:36. Jamie Drysdale has scored the only two goals on the power play for the defense, while Sanheim sits at the top with 92 shots.

Jets-Flyers Best Bet

NHL, highlighted by a remarkable 11-game winning streak. Although they’ve struggled recently with a record of 0-2-1, I don’t anticipate this downturn continuing.

The Jets have only experienced 11 losses on the road, while the Flyers hold a .500 record at home and have fallen in two of their last three games.

Additionally, the Jets are excelling both defensively and in goal. They’ve allowed two goals or fewer in four of their last five outings, whereas the Flyers have given up 16 goals in the same timeframe.

I suggest taking the Jets to win this one in regulation as six of the Flyers’ last nine defeats have come by a margin of two goals or more.
