Seth Jarvis scored twice as the Carolina Hurricanes scored three consecutive goals to put away the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 at Lenovo Center on Friday.

Tomas Hertl and Shea Theodore scored for the Golden Knights (20-13-3), who have dropped four of their last five games. Adin Hill made 25 saves.

Here are three takeaways:

Golden Knights On The Attack

Vegas started the game strong, firing 13 shots in the first period. Carolina goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov made it challenging to score.

The Golden Knights broke through early in the second period when Hertl scored on a beautiful backhand to put them up 1-0.

But after the Hurricanes tied the game up, things went downhill for Vegas, as it surrendered the next three goals.

“Next time we have the lead, we have to keep pushing and get the next one,” Hertl said. “We tried making passes in the neutral zone, we didn’t put enough pucks behind them like we did in the first. We lost a lot of pucks in the neutral zone and fed them.”

Offense Continues To Struggle

The Golden Knights finished the game with 31 shots and managed two goals. Some of the credit should go to Kochetkov, who was strong in the net.

Vegas has scored three or less goals in each of their four losses, including a shutout loss to the New York Islanders.

“We’re not scoring at the level we were, so we have to look at ourselves and say, ‘Why not?’” Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said. “It’s some guys we rely on. Teams have shut some of that down. We do have to start getting some of those goals to go our way by playing that type of game a little more, where we’re going to the net and looking for second chances.”

Uncharacteristically Undisciplined

The Golden Knights are usually a disciplined team that rarely takes penalties.

It wasn’t the case against the Hurricanes. Vegas took four penalties on the night.

Luckily for the Golden Knights, their penalty kill was up to the challenge. They did not allowing a goal to be scored with a man down.
