Hertl says Golden Knights must find a way to score

Vegas Golden Knights forward Tomáš Hertl tallied an assist in the team’s 2-1 loss to the New York Rangers at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday.

It was the only goal that the Golden Knights got past Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin, who made 29 saves. The game also marked nearly 170 minutes since the Golden Knights have scored a 5-on-5 goal.

“We know Shesterkin is one of the best goalies in the league. When he sees it, he will save it,” Hertl said. “You have to still find a way, but we’re talking that we were not far off from tying or winning this game.”

In the last two games, they’ve faced two of the best goalies in the NHL – Shesterkin and New York Islanders’ Ilya Sorokin

Hertl suggested that the team needs to be a little stronger on the interior parts of the ice to make goalies work for their saves..

“We have to just be a little stronger around the net, especially when good goalies come against us,” Hertl said. “We have just to be harder around the net, get the rebounds and find a way. But obviously, tough two losses, but we have to learn from it.”

Vegas has the opportunity to end its two-game losing streak quickly. They play the Minnesota Wild on Sunday.

“We have to work for it [today], but we have to find a way for some goals 5-on-5,” Hertl said.
