Three takeaways as Lady Rebels lose a close one against Baylor

The UNLV Lady Rebels (6-3) took a tough loss, 71-64 against the No. 23 ranked Baylor Bears (9-2) at Baylor.

A Battle of the Boards

The Lady Rebels and the Bears truly battled on the boards. For the Bears, their leading scorer Darianna Littlepage-Buggs went for a double scoring 21 points and 20 rebounds. The Lady Rebels had their core players step up. Four Lady Rebels scored in double digits. The Lady Rebels were led by senior guard Kiara Jackson with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Jackson also had a career-high nine assists.

A Shootout

This game was a close one between the two teams. The Lady Rebels shot 37.7% from the floor while the Bears shot 40.7% from the floor. The Lady Rebels did have an edge from the three-point line going 10-for-27, while Baylor only went 2-for-9. In the entire game, there were eight lead changes. The two teams were also tied six times.

The Lady Rebels still lead the all-time series against Baylor 4-1.

What’s Next for the Lady Rebels?

They make another road trip to Chicago to take on the DePaul Blue Demons on Sunday, December 15th at noon PST. This will be the first of two games in Illinois. They face the Northwestern Wildcats on Wednesday, December 18th at 9 a.m. PST
