The Las Vegas Raiders received some positive news regarding quarterback Aidan O’Connell. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the tests discovered that O’Connell sustained a bone bruise. He will attempt to play Monday night against the Atlanta Falcons.
O’Connell sustained the injury in the third quarter of the 28-13 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Early indicators said the injury might have been season-ending, but the test revealed it to be less serious. O’Connell completed 11-of-19 passing for 104 yards before being carted off the field with his injury.

Raiders coach Antonio Pierce said Monday that if O’Connell is unable to play, the team would turn to backup quarterback Desmond Ridder. Ridder threw for 239 yards this season with a touchdown in limited time on the field. He was signed off the Arizona Cardinals practice squad earlier this season.
