As the Vegas Golden Knights gear up to face the Colorado Avalanche, the betting lines have the Avalanche as -170 favorites. But let’s be real, that line feels a bit generous, given Colorado’s recent goaltending woes.

Colorado recently suffered a 8-2 defeat against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday, marking just their second loss in the last eight games.

Vegas Golden Knights

First off, the Golden Knights are on a roll, winning three straight and five of their last seven games. They’re averaging a whopping 3.86 goals per game, which ranks them fourth in the NHL.

This offensive firepower is led by stars like center Jack Eichel, who’s tied for third in league with 34 points, center Ivan Barbashev, and right wing Mark Stone.

These guys are not just scoring; they’re lighting the lamp consistently, making Vegas a formidable opponent.

Let’s not forget that these two teams already faced off earlier this season, with Vegas dominating in an 8-4 victory. That’s right, they put up eight goals against Colorado, and with the way both teams are playing right now, a similar outcome isn’t out of the question.

Colorado Avalanche

On the flip side, the Avalanche are struggling defensively, allowing 3.77 goals per game, which puts them at 30th in the league. Their goaltending has been a disaster, with a league-worst .855 save percentage.

That’s a recipe for disaster when facing a high-octane offense like Vegas. The Avalanche’s defense has been shaky, and they’ve shown vulnerability, especially after getting crushed 8-2 by the Tampa Bay Lightning in their last outing.

First games back from long road trips often present challenges, and the Avalanche might be feeling the effects of that loss.

Another factor to consider is the Avalanche’s lack of secondary scoring beyond their stars, center Nathan MacKinnon and right wing Mikko Rantanen. While these two are elite players, the depth scoring just isn’t there.

In contrast, the Golden Knights boast a more balanced scoring attack, which could prove crucial in a high-scoring affair.

Golden Knights-Avs Best Bet

In their last ten matchups, each team has snagged five wins, and six of those games had seven or more goals scored. This trend suggests a potential for another high-scoring game tonight.

Expect a fast-paced, back-and-forth battle where the underdog Knights offer excellent value to pull off the upset. With their current form and the Avalanche’s defensive struggles, I’m all in on over 6.5 goals.

Over 6.5 goals scored at -120 odds is the best bet at BetMGM.
