The Kansas City Royals face elimination as they prepare to take on the New York Yankees in game four of the ALDS.

New York Yankees

The Yankees lineup is so talented that they’ve survived a mediocre performance by Aaron Judge. Last game, Giancarlo Stanton stepped up and had a home run and three RBI. His home run in the 8th inning broke a 2-2 tie and propelled the Yankees to a win.

New York has been one of the best road teams in the league, performing much better on the road than at home. If the Yankees receive a strong start from Gerrit Cole and their bullpen continues to perform well, they will win and move on to the ALCS.

Gerrit Cole is the pitcher the Yankees trust to take the mound in a series-clinching game. He pitched much better on the road during the regular season than at Yankee Stadium.

The fact that this game is being played in a larger ballpark will further benefit Cole, as he allows fewer hits, records more strikeouts, and demonstrates better control when pitching away from home. He must deliver a standout performance.

Kansas City Royals

The Royals have been struggling to generate runs in the playoffs, hitting just .240 as a team and scoring only 14 runs in five games. Their offensive struggles, averaging less than three runs per game, have made it difficult for them to secure victories.

In the regular season, the Royals had a 15-51 record when scoring less than four runs. The Royals are not scoring too well this postseason. However, their best offensive game came against Gerrit Cole.

They had seven hits off him, and scored four runs. Kansas City has to have the same type of success in this game. They have actually out hit the Yankees this postseason, so they just have to find a way to get those runs in.

The Royals will send Michael Wacha to the mound. He did not pitch great in his first start against the Yankees. However, that was on the road where he struggled this season.

Wacha was lights out at Kauffman Stadium this year. His ERA was was almost a full run lower and his command was better. If he can have another good home start, the Royals could live to see another day.

Yankees-Royals Best Bet

The Yankees have not played very well in this postseason but still have a chance to advance to the ALCS with a win today. Aaron Judge is the likely AL MVP this season and he has not been very good in any game for them.

The Royals getting to this point feels like a successful season. Seth Lugo lost yesterday and the offense has seriously struggled in this series, their MVP candidate Bobby Witt Jr. has been limited.

Kansas City extending this series to a pivotal fifth game seems very unlikely. The Yankees are the play in this one.

The best bet is Yankees on the moneyline at -160 odds.
