Can the New York Mets advance past the Milwaukee Brewers in the second game of their Wild Card Series to the National League Division Series?
New York Mets
The Mets have a habit of coming back to win games. In the series opener, they trailed the Brewers on two separate occasions but eventually scored five runs in the fifth inning to win the game 8-4.
They will turn to Sean Manaea today to close out the Brewers. Manaea was 12-6 this season with a 3.47 ERA. He limited hitters to a .202 average with a .618 OPS.

The noteworthy aspect of this matchup is that in Manaea’s last regular-season start against the Brewers, he got smashed. The Brewers tagged him for six runs on seven hits in just 3 2/3 innings.
The offense has been one of the best in the league over the past month. They’ve come through when needed, as evident in the first game of their doubleheader against the Braves and yesterday’s eight-run outburst.
Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers are trailing 1-0 in the series and had their best pitcher, Freddy Peralta crushed for three runs in four innings by the Mets yesterday.
The Brew Crew will hand the ball to Frankie Montas today. Montas was acquired earlier this season in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds. Frankie Montas went 3-3 in 11 starts, with the Brewers allowing 29 earned runs in 57 innings.
Montas is no stranger to the postseason, as this will be his fourth career postseason appearance. He holds a record of 1-1 in his previous three appearances with a 9.45 ERA.

The Brewers were one of the best teams in baseball when it came to baserunning and their bullpen. However, they weren’t able to steal any bases yesterday, so I expect them to be much more aggressive on the basepaths today.
They will have to turn to their bullpen again if Montas isn’t able to limit the Mets lineup. The bullpen was one of the best in the league and will need to play like it, if they want any chance of surviving against the Mets.
Mets-Brewers Best Bet
The Mets have been a good road team this season and even better when Manaea is pitching. Even though the Brewers did have their way against Manaea in his last start, I think he bounces back with a strong performance and the Mets rally around him.
I don’t expect the Brewers to be able to shut down the Mets lineup. It seems like things have fallen the Mets way the past 10 games, and today doesn’t feel any differently.
The public is backing the Brewers today, and I’m seeing plus-money odds on the Mets at multiple sportsbooks. I’ll take the Mets to advance to the NLDS today.
The best bet is the Mets on the moneyline at +100 odds
