Aces sweep the Storm to advance to the Semi-Finals

The Aces sweep the Storm, winning game two 83-76, led by Kelsey Plum’s 29 points.Game one of the Semi-Finals is scheduled for Sunday, September 29.

Aces Storm 

The Aces got off to a strong start in the first quarter, leading 15-4 and shooting 6-7 from the field. Kelsey Plum, who struggled in the previous game, opened the game 5-5 from the field and 2-2 from three, scoring 12 points.

After one quarter of play, the Aces lead the Storm 30-20, with A’ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum scoring 12 points each.

The Aces turnovers allowed the Storm to cut into the deficit in the second quarter, with the Aces turning the ball over eight times in the quarter, bringing Seattle within three at 41-38. Seattle went scoreless to end the quarter, while the Aces scored four consecutive, taking a 45-38 lead at the half.

A’ja Wilson led the way with 18 points on 5-10 shooting, while Kelsey Plum added 14 points on 6-8 shooting.

The Storm started the third quarter on an 11-4 run, tying the score at 49 halfway through. The teams would go back and forth for the remainder of the quarter, with the Storm outscoring the Aces 19-17 but behind 62-57.

Seattle began the fourth on an 8-2 run, taking their first lead of the game, 65-64, with 7:58 left. After the Aces went on a run to reclaim the lead, the Storm battled coming with one 71-70 with 5 minutes remaining. The Aces would close out the game strong going onto win 83-76.

Box Score

Three Aces scored in double digits, led by Kelsey Plum with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assist. Plum shot 11-15 from the field knocking down two three pointers.

A’ja Wilson scored 24 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and blocked two shots. Chelsea Gray added 12 points to the Aces double-figure scoring total.

Seattle had four players in double digits, led by Gabby Williams  (20), Nneka Ogwumike (16) and Ezi Megbegor(14).

With the win, the Aces move to the Semi-Finals for a rematch of the 2023 WNBA Finals. The Aces will face the Liberty, with game one scheduled for Sunday, September 29th at a time to be decided.
