As the Las Vegas Raiders (0-1) gear up for their Week 2 battle against the Baltimore Ravens (0-1), fans are eagerly anticipating a thrilling experience.
The game is set to take place on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. Both teams are coming off contrasting starts to their seasons, making this matchup even more intriguing.
The Raiders are looking to bounce back after a tough loss in Week 1, loosing 22-10 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Raiders’ offense showed promise, with standout performances from wide receiver Davante Adams and Jakobi Myers. However, the defense struggled to contain the Chargers’ explosive plays, which will be a key area of focus heading into Weak 2.
Raiders Coach Antonio Pierce’s tough call also had something to do with their loss. With seven minutes left in the game, the Raiders were down by six points, facing a critical fourth down, Pierce made the controversial decision to punt the ball rather than attempt a run to extend the drive. The Chargers took advantage, scoring another touchdown to widen the gap.
“We considered going for it,” Pierce said. “It was a long 1 (yard for a first down). We got stopped earlier in the game. Momentum. The punter had done a good job pinning those guys back. I think he had two or three punts inside the 20. Again, defense was the strength for the most part of the game.”
No NFL team had punted on fourth-and-1 inside its opponent’s territory while trailing by one score in the fourth quarter since 2016, according to Sportradar.
Despite the decision that Pierce made, he wants his team to try to pull off an upset against the Ravens tomorrow.
“All hands on deck and our best players have to show up.”

Key Matchups to Watch
- Lamar Jackson vs. Raiders’ Defense: Jackson’s ability to extend plays and make big throws will test the Raiders’ secondary. The defense will need to contain him and prevent explosive plays.
- Davante Adams vs. Ravens’ Secondary: Adams is one of the league’s premier receivers, and his matchup against the Ravens’ cornerbacks will be crucial.
- Maxx Crosby vs. Ravens’ Run Defense: Crosby’s power running style will challenge the Ravens’ front seven. Establishing the run game will be vital for the Raiders to control the clock and keep Jackson off the field.
By solidifying their offensive line, establishing the run game, containing Lamar Jackson, winning the turnover battle, the Raiders can defy expectations and secure a win against the Baltimore Ravens.
The Raiders have a path to victory if they can execute these strategies effectively.
Expect a high-energy game with plenty of big plays on both sides. Ultimately, the outcome may hinge on which team can execute better in critical moments.
Kickoff is set for Sunday, Sept. 15 at 10:00 a.m. PT in Baltimore.
