The Aces return to Vegas after defeating the Phoenix Mercury for a matchup with the Chicago Sky at T-Mobile Arena. The Atlanta Dream are currently one game behind the Sky for the eighth and final playoff berth; if the Aces win, they will clinch a spot in the postseason.

This is the fourth and final match between the two teams, and it will take place at the T-Mobile Arena. In the last matchup, the Aces won on an A’ja Wilson game-winning layup.

The Aces enter this game on a two-game winning streak, while the Sky are on a six-game losing streak. Chicago has dropped seven of its last eight games after trading Marina Mabrey to the Sun on July 17th.

A’ja Wilson, who had one of her worst performances of the season against the Chicago Sky in the previous game, has been on a roll since putting up video game numbers. Wilson was named the WNBA Western Conference Player of the Week after averaging 36.3 points, 66% from the field, and 13 rebounds per game.

In the Sky’s most recent game versus the Lynx, rookie Angel Reese set a new record for the most rebounds in a single-season. She broke Sylvia Fowles record while playing against the Lynx, which was only fitting. Reese ended with 19 rebounds against the Lynx, breaking Fowles record of 404 and putting her at 418 rebounds and counting.

In terms of injuries, the Chicago Sky will be missing standout point guard Chennedy Carter, who averages 17.2 points per game. Against the Aces, she averages 26.3 points per game and has been a matchup nightmare at guard.

In addition to Carter, Rachel Banham, who has started for her in recent games, is listed as questionable for tonight’s game.

Chelsea Gray fell hard on a charge against the Mercury last game in the second quarter; she returned and finished the half but sat out the second half. The good news for the Aces is that it does not seem to be significant, since she is listed as available for tonight’s game.

The Aces are currently one game ahead of the Storm in the race for fourth place, with eight games remaining. The Storm are playing against the Connecticut Sun tonight, while the Aces are facing the Sky. With an Aces victory and a Storm loss, the Aces can extend their lead to two games.
