Raiders On The Road: First Away Game Showdown

© Candice Ward-USA TODAY Sports

Pre season is over and the Las Vegas Raiders are gearing up for their first away game of the season against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Raiders are physically ready for Week 1 according to head coach Antonio Pierce. He stated to the media on Thursday, “These guys had a lot, especially for our vets, they have had quite a few days off. I think emotionally, man, you got a bunch of guys that are highly motivated. Want to go out there and play and then put some good product on the field.”

The Las Vegas Raiders fired Josh McDaniels and they promoted Coach Antonio Pierce. Since becoming the head coach, he has focused on ensuring the Raiders were set up for success, short term and long term. Pierce plans to continue developing the team’s younger players, hoping to build the team’s depth over time.

“So, we know that it’s a ‘win now’ business, but I think it’s also important when you look at our team, you see a lot of youthful and energetic players there that have a lot of potential,” Pierce said.

As the season approaches, Pierce said the Raiders are motivated by an offseason filled with disrespect and underestimation from many outside the organization. Pierce noted that the team has begun building confidence and trust among each other heading into a Week 1 AFC West matchup.

Gardner Minshew is the starting QB for the Raiders and is fired up to play with the team, especially Davante Adams.

A minor injury sidelined Davante Adams for the final preseason game, will that injury affect his chances of seeing the field for the season opener at the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 8?

Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce didn’t seem to indicate this was a serious injury of any kind, though he kept Adams out of the lineup for the final preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Raiders’ Nation stand up! Game time is just under a week away!

The Las Vegas Raiders will kick off their 2024 NFL season against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at 1:05 PM PDT @ So Fi Stadium, Inglewood, Ca.
