Gardner Minshew Named QB1

Gardner Minshew will be QB1, he’s won the quarterback competition. Las Vegas Raiders Head Coach Antonio Pierce has named Garnder Minshew the starting quarterback for the 2024 season after he beat out second year quarterback Aidan O’Connell.

“Myself, Tom and Luke Getsy discussed it this morning,” Pierce said. “A lot of things went into it. It wasn’t based off of last night. There’s a lot of factors. We feel like Gardner gives us the best opportunity to get off to a fast start.”

In two preseason games, Minshew has gone 16-of-33 for 212 yards and one touchdown. The key for Minshew that separated him for ball protection and overall experience.

Gardner Minshew, now in his sixth NFL season, joined the Silver and Black this offseason after earning a 2023 Pro Bowl selection with the Colts, where he played in all 17 games (13 starts), completing 305-of-490 passes (62.2%) for 3,305 yards, 15 touchdowns, nine interceptions and an 84.6 passer rating. He also rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns on 34 attempts.

He first entered the league as a sixth-round pick (178th overall) by the Jaguars in the 2019 NFL Draft.
