The Oakland Athletics will play the New York Mets in Thursday’s interleague baseball game. Both teams have won one game in the series, and today’s action will determine the series winner.

Oakland Athletics

The Athletics are currently ranked 25th in the majors in runs scored, 27th in batting average, 24th in on-base percentage, and 17th in slugging.

Brent Rooker has been a standout performer, boasting a .293 batting average this year, along with 29 home runs, 83 RBIs, seven stolen bases, and 61 runs scored.

Shea Langeliers has also had a solid year with a .226 batting average, a .288 on-base percentage, 22 home runs, 61 RBIs, and 42 runs scored.

Another top performer is JJ Bleday, with a .244 batting average, a .326 on-base percentage, 14 home runs, 41 RBIs, and 55 runs scored.

Langeliers and Zack Gelof have been in fine form in the last week, with Langeliers hitting .750 with a home run, four RBIs, and two runs scored, while Gelof boasts a .368 average with a home run, three RBIs, and one run scored in the same timeframe.

JJ Bleday has also been on fire, hitting .333 with a .455 on-base percentage, a home run, three RBIs, and four runs scored. The Athletics have collectively hit .261 in their last five games, averaging over four runs per game.

Regarding facing Jose Quintana, only two members of the Athletics have had at-bats against him. Miguel Andujar is one for two with a double and an RBI, and Daz Cameron is one for three with an RBI.

New York Mets

The Mets are currently 11th in the majors in runs scored, with rankings of 12th in batting average, tenth in on-base percentage, and tenth in slugging.

Leading the way is Francisco Lindor, hitting .262 with a .335 on-base percentage, 22 home runs, 67 RBIs, and 77 runs scored.

He has also stolen 24 bases. Brandon Nimmo is also having a strong year, hitting .227 with a .345 on-base percentage, 16 home runs, 66 RBIs, 66 runs scored, and 11 stolen bases.

Pete Alonso is hitting .240 with a .324 on-base percentage, contributing 25 home runs, 65 RBIs, and 67 runs scored.

Alonso has been driving in runs in the last week, hitting .200 with two home runs, six RBIs, and two runs scored. Francisco Lindor has been hitting .423 this week, scoring three RBIs and three runs.

Jose Iglesias rounds out the week’s top performers, hitting .267 with three RBIs and two runs scored. As a team, the Mets are hitting .243 in the last week but have struggled to score, with just 19 runs in their last six games, averaging just over three runs per game.

Jesse Winker is the only Mets player with a career at-bat against Mitch Spence, and he has a hit in his only at-bat.

A’s-Mets Best Bet

In this upcoming game, neither pitcher has had an outstanding season. Jose Quintana has performed better at home than Mitch Spence’s road performances, but the gap is insignificant.

The primary contrast lies within the offensive units. Lately, the Athletics have been hitting much better than the Mets.

This suggests that the Athletics might score runs and make this game close.

I’ll take the A’s to upset the Mets in this one.

Can the A’s win the series against the Mets in New York?
