Jared Anderson is viewed as America’s best heavyweight boxing prospect. He was looking for a statement win against a little known contender power puncher in Martin Bakole. It became clearly very early that Anderson was not ready for the step up in competition and was overwhelmed by the veteran fighter.
Bakole made Anderson feel his power in the first round when he caught the American with a uppercut and then unloaded a fury which sent Anderson down for the first time in his career. From that moment on, everyone got a sense that this fight was going to be different for Anderson.

The punishment continued
Bakole continued busting up Anderson in the third, with the best shot being a chin-checking left uppercut. Anderson again stood toe-to-toe and gave it back to the Congolese contender. The second knockdown resulted from a straight right and left uppercut combo. Anderson got back up, but Bakole connected with two straight hard rights, as Anderson crumbled to the canvas once again. Standing on his last legs, Anderson got up only to eat additional heavy leather along the ropes before the fight was stopped. Without a doubt this was a very revealing defeated for the 24 year old.
Bakole has thrown his name into contention to be next in line for a title shot, he’s probably one more big win away from making that a reality. But you can clearly see why fighters have avoided fighting him. His power can hurt anyone and he’s tough so the future is very bright for native Congolese fighter.
What’s next?
Jared Anderson is not ready to contend for a title, that’s very clear. But youth is on his side and he needs to find a trainer that will work on his flaws. Fine tune him up to be able to utilize his physical tools to his advantage more. As a heavyweight if you don’t have a successful jab then you will never be able to fight at a championship level unless you’re Deontay Wilder. Not everyone has a devasting overhand right like the Bronze Bomber so it’s in Anderson’s best interest to become as well rounded as possible if he wants to be fighting into his mid 30’s at a high level like all the greats do.
