Will the A’s dominance over the Angels continue?

  • What: MLB Regular Season Game
  • When: Friday, July 19
  • Who: Los Angeles Angels vs Oakland Athletics
  • Time: 9:40 p.m. ET
  • Where: Oakland Coliseum (Oakland, CA)

On Friday night, the Oakland Coliseum will be the setting for the first game of a three-game series between the Los Angeles Angels and the Oakland Athletics.

The Angels struggled offensively in their last game against Sears, but that doesn’t mean they won’t find success this time.

Los Angeles Angels

Sears had a challenging June, which could provide an opportunity for the Angels to have a strong offensive showing.

If they can connect with the ball and cause some damage, they stand a good chance of winning.

Heading into the All-Star break, the Angels won three out of four games against a solid Seattle Mariners team.

Despite not being the top team, the Angels’ three consecutive wins before the break have significantly boosted their momentum for the upcoming game.

On the other hand, the Athletics have struggled on the mound, posting a 4.80 ERA this month. If Los Angeles can ignite their bats, they should be able to secure a victory in this game.

Oakland Athletics

Sears may not have the most impressive stats overall, but he has performed well recently. In his two starts in July, Sears has led the Athletics to two victories, allowing just one run over 10.2 innings.

His strikeout numbers have also risen this month, with 14 strikeouts in those 10.2 innings, despite not being a strikeout pitcher for the season as a whole.

Sears managed to shut down the Angels in one of those starts. If he maintains this level of performance, the Athletics have a strong chance of winning.

The Athletics have been a force to reckon with offensively in July, a critical factor in their 7-5 record this month.

As a team, they are batting .267 with an .839 OPS and averaging seven runs per game. They have also hit 25 home runs in the 12 games played this month.

With their current form at the plate and key hitters still in the lineup, Oakland has a good chance of winning this game.

Angels-A’s Best Bet

JP Sears is set to be the starting pitcher in the first game after the break.

He recently put on a great performance, only allowing one run and striking out eight batters against the Red Sox.

Despite a tough stretch in June against the Twins, where he allowed 12 runs and four homers in less than six innings, Sears has bounced back with impressive stats: a 2.16 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and a solid 20:4 K: BB ratio in his last three outings.

Sears is set to continue his positive momentum for the Athletics in his upcoming game.

I’d bet Oakland to win this on the moneyline.

Can the A’s keep up with Phillies bats in Sunday slugfest?
