The WNBA is witnessing a thrilling rivalry in the making, as the Indiana Fever (7-10) and Chicago Sky (5-9) are heating up the competition.

Chicago Sky

They have already faced off twice this season with much fanfare and will meet again Sunday at 4 p.m. ET at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.

Meanwhile, Chicago snapped a four-game losing streak with a win over the struggling Dallas Wings this week. Despite their recent slump, including a loss to the last-place Washington Mystics, this could be a “buy low” moment for the Sky, even as favorites.

Chicago ranks sixth in the WNBA in net rating, far ahead of Fever, which has the league’s worst net rating. Despite their four-game winning streak, Indiana still has the worst defense in the WNBA, allowing 4.3 more points per 100 possessions than Dallas.

The Sky, currently 1-point favorites, are determined to turn the tide in their favor on ESPN after suffering defeats in the first two meetings against the Fever.

Indiana Fever

The Indiana Fever emerged victorious in both of their previous encounters with the Chicago Sky, showcasing their dominance with a close 71-70 win on June 1 and a more convincing 91-83 triumph last Sunday.

Supporting the Chicago Sky for the third game could be a strategic move. In the WNBA, beating a team three times in a row is challenging, and the Sky might just be ready to turn the tables.

Both previous games were tightly contested despite the Sky’s poor 40% shooting, which is unusual given Indiana’s defensive struggles.

Sky-Fever Game Best Bet

Winning on the road is challenging. The first two games of this season series were at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where the Fever have a solid record, winning four of eight games and three of their last four during a four-game win streak.

However, the Fever have only won three out of nine road games and now face a Chicago team that ended its losing streak with an 11-point home victory over the Dallas Wings on Thursday.

The Sky are poised to regain their form in a game that should favor their physical style. I’d take the Sky on the point spread laying as much as -2 or on the moneyline laying up to -130 juice.

Can the Mercury slow down the Lynx?
