Vegas Golden Knights goalie Logan Thompson was named the NHL’s second star of the week after an impressive three-game stretch.

The Golden Knights needed someone to step up when Adin Hill went down with an injury on March 23.

And that’s exactly what Logan Thompson has done over the past two weeks.

On Monday (April 1), the NHL named Thompson its second star of the week after leading his team to a 3-0-0 record the previous week. He stopped 102 of the 105 shots he faced — equal to a .971 save percentage.

“It’s an honor,” Thompson said, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “It just shows how good we’ve been playing as a team.”

With his third win of the week, Thompson set a new career-high with his 22nd win of the season. The 27-year-old netminder went 21-13-3 during his rookie year last season.

It was a stellar week, but it was just the beginning.

Thompson extended his win streak to six games with a dominant 6-3 win over the division-leading Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday (April 2).

He stopped 27 of 30 shots in that game, but it ended a six-game streak of allowing no more than one goal per game.

Hill has yet to return to practice, so the Vegas Golden Knights need Thompson to stay ready. The good news is that the VGK have all but secured their spot in the playoffs.

Thompson is now 23-12-5 on the season with a .911 save percentage and one shutout. Expect to see a lot more of him down the stretch.
