Golden Knights forward Jonathan Marchessault netted his 30th goal of the season on Saturday (Feb. 24).

Vegas dropped their third straight game and have now lost four of their past five, but Marchessault remained hot.

The 33-year-old gave the Knights an early 1-0 lead at the 5:41 mark of the first period, making him the 13th player to score 30 goals this season.

Mikko Rantanen of the Colorado Avalanche also netted his 30th goal of the year on Saturday.

For Marchessault, it’s the third 30-goal season of his career and second since joining the Golden Knights. He scored 30 goals in 75 games with the Florida Panthers in 2016-17, and 30 goals in 76 games with Vegas in 2021-22.

He’s at it again, but this year is different.

This year, he’s averaging more than 0.5 goals per game with 30 goals through 58 games. And 13 of those goals have come in the past 15 games — including in each of the past two.

With 24 games left, he’s on pace to obliterate his career high and possibly join the 40-goal club.

The only VGK player to join that club is William Karlsson, who scored 43 goals during the team’s inaugural season in 2017-18. Marchessault finished with 27 goals that year.

Jonathan Marchessault Adding to His VGK Legacy

Both Karlsson and Marchessault are in their seventh seasons with Vegas, but it’s Marchy who holds all the franchise records.

His 490 games, 180 goals, 216 assists, and 396 points are the most in franchise history. He has led the team in goals in three of his first six seasons in Vegas and is doing it a fourth time this year.

The Golden Knights play the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday (Feb. 27). Toronto embarrassed Vegas 7-3 on Feb. 22, so the Knights will be looking for revenge.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Marchessault will be searching for his 31st goal of the season — which would be a new career-high.

The opening face-off is at 4 p.m. at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, ON.
