Auburn Tigers interim head coach Carnell Williams celebrates after the game as Auburn Tigers take on Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Ala., on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022. Auburn Tigers defeated Western Kentucky Hilltoppers 41-17.

The Las Vegas Raiders are expected to hire Carnell “Cadillac” Williams as their running back coach.

The Raiders had a target former UCLA running back coach, but he was hired to replace Chip Kelly as head coach at UCLA. Now it looks like Williams is the Raiders guy.

Williams has been a running back at the University of Auburn from 2019 to 23. In 2022, when Tigers’ head coach Bryan Harsin was fired with four games left, Williams took over as head coach. Williams went 2-2 in the four games, and Auburn played inspired.

The running back coach also played running back coach at Auburn from 2001-04.

Williams rushed for more than 3,800 yards and 45 touchdowns. Rushing touchdown No. 44, breaking Bo Jackson’s program record for most in a career.

Cadillac spent seven seasons in the NFL. Most of which were spent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who drafted him with the fifth overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft. Williams was named the Associated Press’ NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year that same year.

With the Buccaneers, Williams gained more than 3,680 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns across six seasons. Williams finished his professional career with the St. Louis Rams, where he spent the 2011 season and rushed for 361 yards and a touchdown.
