LAS VEGAS — The Vegas Golden Knights are heading into the Stanley Cup Playoffs with momentum, confidence, and another division title in hand. Following a 4-1 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday night, Vegas secured the Pacific Division crown for the second consecutive season and the fifth time in franchise history since entering the league in 2017. Now, the focus shifts to the postseason.

The National Hockey League officially announced the opening round schedule on Thursday, confirming that Vegas will face the Utah Mammoth in a best-of-seven Western Conference First Round series.

  • Game 1: Sunday, April 19
  • Location: T-Mobile Arena
  • Puck Drop: 7:00 p.m. PT

All games in the series will be broadcast across the Golden Knights’ television territory on Scripps Sports and KnightTime+. This marks the first-ever playoff appearance for Utah, adding another layer of intrigue to the matchup up.

Vegas enters the playoffs red-hot. The Golden Knights finished the regular season at 39-26-17 (95 points) and have surged since the coaching change that saw John Tortorella take over behind the bench on March 29.

Since replacing Bruce Cassidy, Tortorella has guided Vegas to a 7-0-1 run, stabilizing the team and sharpening its identity heading into the postseason. The turnaround couldn’t have come at a better time.

By clinching the Pacific Division, Vegas locks in home-ice advantage for the first round a significant edge at T-Mobile Arena, one of the NHL’s most electric playoff environments.

The Golden Knights’ ability to control matchups and feed off their home crowd could prove decisive against a Utah team stepping into postseason intensity for the first time.

Western Conference Field

The road to the Stanley Cup won’t be easy.

The Western Conference playoff picture also includes:

  • Colorado Avalanche
  • Dallas Stars
  • Minnesota Wild
  • Edmonton Oilers
  • Anaheim Ducks
  • Los Angeles Kings

Each presents a unique challenge, but Vegas’ recent form signals a team capable of making another deep run. The Golden Knights enter the playoffs as one of the hottest teams in hockey, while Utah arrives as a wildcard with nothing to lose. For Vegas, the mission is clear: turn regular-season success into postseason dominance. For Utah, it’s about proving they belong. Game 1 on April 19 will set the tone.
