SYDNEYTallison Teixeira weathered a hostile environment and a heavy-handed opponent to earn a hard-fought unanimous decision over Tai Tuivasa at UFC 325.

Teixeira (9-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) claimed the victory by identical 29-28 scores on all three judges’ cards in a turbulent heavyweight clash on the main card at Qudos Bank Arena.

Early Control, Late Chaos

Competing in front of a raucous home crowd, Tuivasa (14-9 MMA, 8-9 UFC) returned to action for the first time since mid-2024 but quickly found himself under pressure. Teixeira dragged the Australian to the canvas early, silencing the arena momentarily as he established control on the ground.

Tuivasa struggled to gain momentum in the second round, with Teixeira’s size and clinch work continuing to sap his energy. Still, the fight remained competitive, setting the stage for a wild final frame.

Tuivasa Swings, Teixeira Survives

The third round belonged to chaos.

Knowing he needed something big, Tuivasa unleashed heavy shots and landed several as the Sydney crowd roared him forward. Somehow, Teixeira absorbed the punishment and stayed upright, refusing to wilt despite visible fatigue on both sides.

By the final horn, both heavyweights were spent. When the scorecards were read, Teixeira’s consistency and early control proved decisive.

Career Trajectories Diverge

With the win, Teixeira rebounded from a previous loss to Derrick Lewis. Reestablishing himself as a dangerous presence in the UFC’s heavyweight division. For Tuivasa, the defeat marked his sixth consecutive loss, extending a difficult stretch that dates back to his last victory a knockout of Lewis in February 2022.

Despite flashes of his trademark power, Tuivasa was unable to produce the finish he needed, and questions now loom over his future as the skid continues. On a night defined by grit and attrition, Tallison Teixeira proved he could survive the storm and walk out of Sydney with his hand raised.
