A pair of world championship bouts and the return of a former titleholder will bolster the undercard for “The Ring 6”, headlined by Teofimo Lopez vs. Shakur Stevenson on Jan. 31 at Madison Square Garden, streaming live on DAZN.
The Ring announced a stacked supporting slate featuring championship stakes across multiple divisions, plus several notable names returning to action.
Keyshawn Davis Moves to 140 Pounds
Former WBO lightweight champion Keyshawn Davis begins a new chapter at junior welterweight, facing former title challenger Jamaine Ortiz.
Keyshawn Davis (13-0, 9 KOs) last fought on Feb. 14, stopping Denys Berinchyk to win the WBO belt. His reign ended before it began, however, after he missed weight by more than four pounds ahead of a scheduled hometown defense against Edwin De Los Santos on June 7—forcing the bout to be scrapped.
Now ranked No. 1 by the WBO at 140 pounds, Davis meets Ortiz (20-2-1, 10 KOs), who has won three straight since losing a unanimous decision to Lopez in his lone world title bid. Ortiz last stopped late replacement Ambiorix Bautista in three rounds on Aug. 23.
Adames Defends WBC Middleweight Crown
Carlos Adames will make the third defense of his WBC middleweight title against longtime contender Austin Williams.
Adames (24-1-1, 18 KOs), from Elías Piña in the Dominican Republic, returns for the first time in nearly a year after a controversial split draw with Hamzah Sheeraz in February.
Williams (19-1, 13 KOs) has rebounded well since an 11th-round stoppage loss to Sheeraz in 2024, stringing together three straight wins, most recently a ninth-round stoppage of Ivan Vazquez.
Carrington Fights for Vacant WBC Featherweight Title
Brooklyn’s unbeaten Bruce Carrington will get his first shot at full world title honors when he faces Carlos Castro for the vacant WBC featherweight title.
Carrington (16-0, 9 KOs) captured the interim WBC belt with a dominant decision over previously unbeaten Mateus Heita on July 26.
Castro (30-3, 14 KOs), from Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, Mexico, returns after a split-decision loss to former two-division champion Stephen Fulton in 2024. Fulton later vacated the WBC featherweight title following his Dec. 6 loss to O’Shaquie Foster.
Heavyweight and Junior Welterweight Action
Also featured on the undercard:
-
Heavyweight bout: Jarrell Miller (26-1-2, 22 KOs) vs. Kingsley Ibeh (16-2-1, 14 KOs)
-
Junior welterweight bout: Ziyad Almaayouf (7-0-1, 1 KO) vs. Kevin Castillo (5-2-1)
A Deep Night at The Garden
With two world title fights, a high-profile divisional debut, and heavyweight intrigue, “The Ring 6” shapes up as one of the deepest boxing cards of the winter. While Lopez vs. Stevenson headlines with pound-for-pound implications, the undercard offers plenty of championship drama and the potential for new stars to emerge under the bright lights of Madison Square Garden.
