Raiders embrace the inevitable, draft running back high at six

Sometimes, the most obvious choice really is the right one.

With the sixth pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders selected Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty.

For the Raiders, Jeanty has been linked to them for the better part of two months before the Draft. Despite a recent push that the Jacksonville Jaguars or Chicago Bears could take Jeanty with the pick, that turned out to be a smokescreen. As such, the Raiders are rewarded and get the prospect they have coveted for so long.

What Jeanty brings to the Raiders

Drafting Jeanty early on hammers home the point that Carroll wants to build his offense around a solid ground game.

Punch in the running game was something the Raiders sorely lacked all of last season. The team finished with the worst rushing attack in the league, making it a weakness that Carroll and general manager John Spytek felt the need to address early. While the Raiders did add veteran Raheem Mostert to the backfield, Jeanty instantly takes a spot as the three-down workhorse.

The Raiders have certainly made their fans back in Las Vegas happy with this selection.
