Devin Haney, a prominent name in the sport, has recently found himself at the center of such a legal storm. The 25-year-old American boxer, known for his lightning-fast hands and strategic prowess, has made headlines not just for his performances in the ring but also for his decision to take legal action against Ryan Garcia and Golden Boy Promotions in New York on Friday.

He is seeking damages for ‘battery and fraud’ after Garcia’s positive drug test overturned April bout result.

In the April bout, Garcia floored Haney three times. Garcia’s unanimous decision win was overturned to a no-contest.

Garcia, who weighed 143 pounds for the 140-pound fight, was  suspended for one year and fined upwards of $1.2 million.

Haney is seeking damages for “physical injury, reputational  damage which will amount to millions of dollars, and emotional and mental distress”, according to the court filing.

His father is here in video before the fight speaking his mind before the bout.

For Devin Haney, the decision to sue represents a significant step in his career. While he continues to train and prepare for upcoming fights, legal battles in boxing can be time-consuming and emotionally draining, requiring fighters to balance their legal obligations with their athletic pursuits.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the boxing world watches with anticipation, curious to see how this chapter in Haney’s career will influence the sport at large. Whatever the outcome, Devin Haney’s resilience and dedication to his craft ensure that he will continue to make headlines both inside and outside the ring.

The lawsuit also highlights the broader implications of drug use in sports, potentially leading to stricter testing protocols and harsher penalties for violations.
